Horizonal Light Therapy is one of our conservative care techniques in our holistic healing programs. Horizon Light Therapy is a system that uses red and infrared LED light to relieve pain, reduce inflammation and stimulate cellular regeneration. We implement this treatment to assist our patients healing effectively from injuries and conquer pain without resorting to drugs or surgery.
Inflammation Treatment via Red and Infrared Light
The Horizon Light Therapy system generates beams of two different wavelengths, 880 nanometers and 660 nanometers. These two levels of energy can convey some astonishing benefits to diseased or injured tissues. The 660-nanometer beam passes through the epidermis to the dermis, while the 880-nanometer beam extends even further, to the subcutaneous layer, allowing to treat different types of tissue damage. (In both cases, the beam causes no harm or discomfort to the skin). The light waves stimulate the mitochondria in cells to produce more adenosine triphosphate (ATP), a critical energy source for cellular repair. The infrared light also causes the cells to release more nitric oxide, a substance that causes blood vessel dilation. The resulting boost in blood flow helps the tissues expel inflammatory substances and fluids, which cause swelling, providing a pleasant feeling of warmth, which promotes muscle relaxation.
